In HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU ARE!, painter and curator Maik Schierloh explores the concept of beauty and what it means for the art world. The starting questions of the exhibition might be: Why do we go to exhibition openings? Is it because of the artworks, or rather to be part of the art scene? Why does everything in the art world always have to be perfect, and why does every participant have to feel more than just good? When visitors get dressed up before a vernissage, is there still room for the art afterward – or are the visitors perhaps looking in the wrong direction?
These questions open up a view of the artworks and the visitors, of art and artists, as well as the cultural scene as a whole. HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU ARE! offers a wide range of renowned artists the space to engage with this field of tension under the guiding theme of beauty. The concept of beauty here is not intended as a call for critique, but rather as an invitation to joyful experimentation.
HOW BEAUTIFUL YOU ARE! sees itself as a network exhibition in which the variety of artistic positions creates a unique sense of tension.
